Mina (Yaum-ut-Tarwiyah)
Pilgrims depart for Mina and spend the day and night in worship.
On the 8th of Dhul Hijjah, pilgrims leave Makkah for Mina where they perform prayers and prepare spiritually for the Day of Arafat.
Standing at Arafat
The most important pillar of Hajj.
Pilgrims remain in the plains of Arafat from noon until sunset in prayer and supplication. Missing this standing invalidates Hajj.
Night at Muzdalifah
After sunset pilgrims travel to Muzdalifah.
Pilgrims combine Maghrib and Isha prayers, spend the night under the open sky and collect pebbles for the stoning ritual.
Eid-ul-Adha
The Day of Sacrifice.
The 10th of Dhul Hijjah marks Eid-ul-Adha and the major rituals of Hajj.
Rami al-Jamarat
Stoning of Jamarat al-Aqabah.
Pilgrims throw seven pebbles at the largest Jamarah, symbolizing rejection of Shaytan.
Qurbani (Sacrifice)
Animal sacrifice after Rami.
Pilgrims perform or arrange the sacrifice in remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim (AS).
Halq / Taqsir
Hair shaving or trimming.
Male pilgrims shave or trim their hair while female pilgrims trim a small portion, marking partial completion of Ihram restrictions.
